The regulatory requirements are already intense and are increasing, for example due to the Supply Chain Due Diligence Act, the EU-wide requirements for sustainability reporting and the new regulations on whistleblower protection and whistleblower systems. Employees responsible for legal, compliance, governance, finance and risk management are particularly important for ensuring legally compliant and efficient implementation.

Sustainability operationalization

Ultimately, the key to the success of the sustainability transformation lies in implementation through operationalization, i.e. in the adaptation of the processes, the empowerment of those involved and the creation of awareness for this important topic. Managers in the areas of operations, supply chain and HR are of particular importance. In order to avoid greenwashing accusations, these leaders must always work closely with Legal and Compliance. In this way, strategic sustainability goals can be achieved.
